Your articles in your Webflow site.

makeseo writes and schedules the posts and creates them as entries in your CMS Collection — set live, with a cover image and slug. Your template renders them like any other post.

You need a Webflow site with a CMS Collection and three minutes. No CMS at hand? The hosted blog needs none at all.

One token, three minutes

You generate a token in your Webflow site settings and paste it in. No app, no version, no installation.

Your collection, your fields

makeseo reads your CMS Collections and suggests which field gets which part of the article. You confirm — nothing is guessed.

Proven right away

When connecting, makeseo creates a test post and removes it again. The connection is only established once that has worked.

1 · Generate a token in Webflow

In Webflow: Site settings › Apps & integrations › API access → Generate API token. Give it a name (e.g. makeseo) and tick these boxes:

sites:read     determine your site's address
pages:read     find the path of your blog page
assets:write   Upload images from your articles to Webflow

A Site Token applies to exactly one website. If you have several, you generate one each. Webflow allows up to five tokens per site; a token that stays unused for 365 days expires.

2 · Paste it into makeseo

In makeseo: Settings › Integrations → the Webflow tile. Paste the token, continue. makeseo then reads your sites and their CMS Collections — all you do is pick one.

3 · Choose the transfer mode

This is the one decision that means work later if you change it. It determines how much of an article arrives in Webflow.

Simple

makeseo writes into a Rich Text field. Nothing else to set up. The post appears in the typography and link color of your template — it looks like the rest of your site.

Not included: tables and the table of contents with jump links.

Full

makeseo writes into a text field that is bound in your template to an HTML Embed. A one-time two minutes in the Designer (Step 4).

In return: everything — tables, the table of contents with jump links, callout boxes and your brand color on the links. The post is then no longer editable in the Webflow editor (editing happens in makeseo anyway).

4 · For "Full" only: create the field and Embed

In the Webflow Designer, two steps:

1. CMS › your blog collection › Add field
   Type:  Plain text  (multi-line)
   Name: makeseo Body        →  Slug: makeseo-body

2. Open your blog's Collection Page
   Insert an "Embed" element
   In the Embed window: "+ Add Field" → makeseo Body
   (the field content is output 1:1 as HTML)

3. Publish.

5 · Map the fields

makeseo shows all fields of your collection and suggests a mapping. Title, Slug and article body are required, everything else is up to you. Unmapped fields aren't written to — makeseo doesn't touch a field you use for something else.

Finally, makeseo creates a test post and removes it again right away. The connection is only established once that has worked — which proves that the token is allowed to write and that your collection's required fields match.

How it works after that

Live right away, not as a draft

makeseo creates posts via the live endpoint. A post only counts as published with us once Webflow has actually reported it live and the public address is confirmed.

No site publish by us

makeseo never publishes your whole site. That would push live all the changes you didn't yet want to ship from the Designer. Only the single post goes out.

Images live with you

Every image is uploaded to Webflow and served from there (up to 4 MB per image). Linked images would point into the void after the first save in the editor — hence the upload.

Connected later? No problem

Posts that were finished before connecting are caught up by makeseo — spread over the next allowed days, one post per day. No flood all at once.

When something gets stuck

The messages word for word — and what's behind them.

"This token can't see a single Webflow site.": The token belongs to a different workspace, or it was generated in the ACCOUNT settings instead of the SITE settings. A Site Token always applies to exactly one website.
"Your Webflow token is missing a permission.": Not all the checkboxes were ticked when it was generated. This can't be changed afterwards — generate a new token with cms:read, cms:write, sites:read, pages:read and paste it in again.
The site is in the list, but it's greyed out.: Then it has no CMS Collection. Webflow's Basic plan doesn't include a CMS — for a blog you need the CMS or Business plan.
"The public address can't be determined.": Your collection's page has never been published in Webflow. Publish your site once by hand — after that makeseo knows the path. Until then the post stays scheduled instead of counting as published under a guessed address.
The post is there, but the table is missing.: That's Rich Text mode. Webflow's Rich Text field has no tables — there simply is no table element there. The full mode (text field + Embed) transfers them.
The links in the post don't have my brand color.: In Rich Text mode the post inherits your template's styles — that's by design. Set the color once in the Designer via "All Links inside of Rich Text", then all posts carry it, including the ones already published.
The post is missing its meta title and description.: Webflow has no standard SEO fields for CMS entries. makeseo writes into two text fields of your collection — binding them to the page settings is a one-time step in the Designer (see Step 5).
Images in the article are broken.: The token is missing assets:write. Without this permission makeseo doesn't upload images to Webflow — and a merely linked image gets rewritten by Webflow to its own domain on the first save in the editor, without ever fetching the file. Generate a token with this permission.
